Position Overview
If you’re a self-starter who is motivated by providing top level public service, the City of Kamloops Transportation Division is looking for someone to join their team as a Transportation Engineer. The Transportation Engineer will focus on the delivery of various transportation, traffic engineering studies, active transportation, Vision Zero and transit related projects within the community, develop design concepts for future active transportation road corridors, review traffic impact studies and transportation review of development applications, develop and deliver on the City’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies and programs and administer the community’s transit operations and infrastructure in collaboration with BC Transit. The incumbent will provide in-house technical expertise in the field of transportation engineering.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

  1. University degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in the field of traffic/transportation engineering;
  2. Professional member of, or ability to become a professional member of Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia OR registered as an Engineer-in-Training in the Province of British Columbia;
  3. Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills and public relations skills;
  4. Minimum of three years’ of Transportation/Traffic Engineering experience.
  5. Minimum two years' of supervisory experience.
  6. Valid BC Driver’s License – Class 5 (or equivalent).

 
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check.

The annual salary for this position is $112,908.90. The City offers a comprehensive benefit package including generous vacation and an Earned Days Off program. Along with these benefits, the City provides access to fitness facilities, various instructed programs, and community volunteer/engagement opportunities. This is an exempt, management position.

Monday to Friday:
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (summer)
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (winter)
